Opening Reception: 2020 Archives Commission Activity

Participant interacted and established a baseline of participant assumptions about the future.

They engaged in interaction as members of the “NCMS 2020 Archives Commission” whose task it was to describe the game changers and other key events, trends, and developments of importance to manufacturing which occurred in the past 20 years, between 2020 and 2001. This interactive process involved stand-up brainstorm groups, and movement about the room by the entire audience. At the end of the process, participants discussed and reported what they had seen and learned.

The Capitol Steps Comedy Show

After Dinner,  The Capitol Steps entertained the guests. They are a troupe of Congressional staffers-turned-comedians who travel the country satirizing the very people and places that once employed them. The Steps perform over 400 shows a year all over the country, covering territory from Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon.

Since they began, the Capitol Steps have recorded 18 albums. They’ve been featured on three national PBS specials, numerous TV shows, and can be heard four times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their “Politics Takes a Holiday” radio specials.
