  3. Discuss: when and when not to roadmap, how to generate buy-in, how to integrate roadmaps into product platforms, how to work across organizational boundaries, and how to connect roadmaps to other management of technology processes,
  4. Explore opportunities for collaboration on technical efforts,
  5. Review some lessons learned from industry participants on the Management of Accelerated Technology Insertion collaborative project.

Background:

In an era of global competitiveness, companies are facing increasing pressures to cut costs and yet produce innovative products. These demands have forced them to take an introspective look at their capabilities, business strategies, technology needs and competitive posture in the world market. While a myriad of strategies are being employed to help companies succeed in the face of these competitive pressures, one popular strategy involving entire industries is roadmapping. More than a dozen industry roadmaps have been published—many of which will be covered at this conference. This session will show attendees both the key components of roadmapping and mechanisms for translating industry roadmaps into practical solutions that work for them.
