Background: Two major forces reduction in research funds at large companies and reduction in government funding in research have profoundly changed, and will continue to change, the nature and content of R&D. Many organizations, recognizing that they can no longer go it alone, are seeking outside help to achieve their technology roadmap. This session will describe one tool that has proven successful in the formation and management of complex, multi-partner research programs. Also offered will be many examples of how companies can effectively and efficiently meet the challenge of pre-competitive R&D. Technique: Jerry Reimann will review the benefits and costs of collaborative R&D, describe the services and capabilities of TRC, and illustrate how companies can use NCMS to their fullest advantage.
