2. Identify the benefits and costs of collaborative R&D,
3. Familiarize the audience with the services offered by TRC,
4. Describe examples of previous projects, as well as on-going programs and
   potential new opportunities,
5. Encourage companies to explore using TRC on their next potential
   collaborative project.

Background:

Two major forces – reduction in research funds at large companies and reduction in government funding in research – have profoundly changed, and will continue to change, the nature and content of R&D. Many organizations, recognizing that they can no longer ‘go it alone’, are seeking outside help to achieve their technology roadmap. This session will describe one tool that has proven successful in the formation and management of complex, multi-partner research programs. Also offered will be many examples of how companies can effectively and efficiently meet the challenge of pre-competitive R&D.

Technique:
